NATO and the European Union have issued strong condemnations of Russia following a drone strike that hit a residential building in Romania, marking a significant escalation in tensions between Moscow and the Western alliance over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Incident
Romanian authorities confirmed that a Russian drone, believed to have been launched as part of attacks on Ukrainian territory, struck a residential block within the country’s borders. Officials indicated the drone was likely intercepted by Romania’s air defences over Ukraine before altering its trajectory and crossing into Romanian airspace, ultimately crashing into the building.
